How to Create a Printer in MachShip

This demo video refers to How to Create a Printer in MachShip

Once the MachShip Printing Application has been installed you will need to generate the following in MachShip:

This configuration will be what will tell MachShip when, what, and where to print.

Create the Printer in MachShip

Navigate to the Printers Page:

  • Go to Admin and Other Options.

  • Under the Advanced section select Printers.

  • Select the Add Printer Button.

Alternatively, go to the following link.

Create the Printer:

Provide MachShip with the Printer's NameDescription and assign to a Company.

Note: The Name and the Description are free text, it is suggested to indicate what printer you are creating.

See example below:

Multi-Company Printer Setup:

If the printer will be required for use by a series of child companies, it is essential that you:

  • Assign the printer to the parent company (not a child company)
  • Enable the Is Inheritable flag by checking the "Is Inheritable" checkbox

This configuration allows all child companies in the hierarchy to inherit and use the printer for automatic printing. If a printer is assigned to a child company instead of the parent company, it will only be available to that specific child company and will not be inherited by other companies in the hierarchy, even if the Is Inheritable flag is enabled.

Important: When setting up printers for multi-company environments:

  • Always assign printers to the parent company level
  • Always enable Is Inheritable = YES
  • Verify that printer configurations (created separately) are also assigned to the parent company with Inheritable = YES
  • Test automatic printing with consignments from different child companies to confirm inheritance is working correctly

If auto-printing is not working for child companies, check that both the printer AND the printer configuration are assigned to the parent company with inheritance enabled.

Once complete Save the Printer.

Upon successfully setting up the printer, it will appear in the Printer Grid. Here you will be able to see the connection token. This token will be placed in the field on the application and will maintain a connection between the Printer and MachShip.
