As a default, MachShip will sell fuel at a markup. This is due to the percentage calculation of the fuel on the sell rate.
You can create a Fuel Surcharge which has a different percentage for the sell price calculation as it does for the cost price calculation. This method allows you to set a different sell price Fuel Surcharge or you can set the sell price Fuel Surcharge to always be a percentage amount above the cost price Fuel Surcharge.
How to access the Create Fuel Surcharge screen
To create a fuel surcharge, navigate to Admin menu and Fuel Surcharges.
In the top right-hand corner, select the Create Fuel Surcharge button.

How to Create the Fuel Surcharge
1. Information
To create a Fuel Surcharge, you will need to provide the system with the setup information for example Name, Abbreviation.
2. Assign to a Company and Carrier. These are free text fields.
Enter Company name and assign to a Carrier. These fields will need to match a created company and a created carrier for which your user has access to.
Note: Fuel Surcharges also need to be assigned to the highest company in the tree for which the carrier account will be used. If not, then there is a possibility that routes will not be able to be returned and consignments not created.
3. Set the Parent Fuel Surcharge
The Parent Fuel Surcharge is what MachShip uses to calculate the fuel charge for the cost component of the consignment.
The Parent Fuel Surcharge input box will allow you to select from the available created fuel surcharges.
4. Set the Amount
When a Parent Fuel Surcharge is populated in the fuel surcharge box, the options in the Fuel Surcharge Type drop-down will change to:
Set the amount you wish to increase the Fuel Surcharge by or the amount the new Fuel Surcharge should be.
Once complete, select Save Fuel Surcharge and the surcharge will be created.
