Lane Rates are a set of pricing lines which have the same From Zone, To Zone, Service, Account and Carrier combination. These can be added into MachShip via an import and the collection of articles outlining how this can be completed can be found here.

If you are looking to just adjust a small number of lane rates it can be quicker and easier to do this through the MachShip UI. 

How to Navigate through to a Ratecard Version

1. Select Admin and Ratecards.

2. Use the filters and the search bar to find the ratecard you wish to alter. 

The filters are:

• Company - This will filter the page to only show ratecards assigned to the company selected.
• Carrier - This will filter the page to only show ratecards assigned to the carrier selected.
• Carrier Account - This will filter the page to only show ratecards assigned to the carrier account selected.
• Search Bar - Can be used to search for a ratecard, by either the name or the abbreviation. 

3. Once you have found the ratecard select the cog on the left and the option View Ratecard.

4. Once in the View Ratecard page, scroll down to the bottom and select the Ratecard Version which you would want to edit the rates against.

Using the drop-down cog select View Ratecard Version.

You will then be able to edit the Lane Rates.

How to Edit Lane Rates

1. Using the Search bar find the rate which you wish to edit. The search bar will filter based on the Zone Name or the Service.

2. Once you have found the lane rate you wish to edit, use the drop-down cog on the right and select Edit Lane Rate - this will bring up the Edit Lane Rate screen. 

On the Edit Lane Rate Screen, the first thing to do will be to view the top of the screen to ensure that you are editing the correct Service and Ratecard Version.

Once this is validated, you will have all of the details regarding the rate in an editable format. This will include the.

• Service -  A service will be what a carrier uses to separate between prices and transit duration for a movement.
• From and To Zone - Transport pricing is broken down by the size of the object that is being sent as well as the distance that it needs to travel and in what time. Zones are utilized by carriers in order to separate the distance between movements. A zone will be a collection of suburbs within a similar geographical region.

If the price is a flat rate across all suburbs then please leave the From Zone and To Zone blank. 

• Basic - The basic charge will be clearly indicated on a ratecard and will be the flat price which will apply no matter the size of the object being sent.
• Minimum -  The minimum charge will be clearly indicated on a ratecard and will be the price that will be charged if the calculated figure for the basic and breaks is less then the minimum figure.
• Cubic Conversion - As transport company one of the major limits will be the amount of weight and the size of freight that can be sent. In order to be able to have a comparison between the size and weight of the freight transport companies will use a cubic conversion factor which will turn the volume of an object into a weight. Transport companies will then charge based on the larger of the two. 
• Reciprocal - If the price is the same when the freight is going from the From Zone to the To Zone and also from the To Zone to the From Zone. 

You will also be given access to edit the Breaks. 

Transport companies will charge based on:

• Weight - measured in kilograms.
• Time - measures in hours.
• Distance - measures in kilometres.
• Volume - measures in cubic metres.
• Pieces - measures on the number of a certain object being sent an example would be the number of cartons or pallets. 
• Pallet Spaces - This is the number of Pallet Spaces which are taken up on the consignment

In order to provide discounts for sending larger amounts of freight transport companies will tend to collect sets of the above five measurements in breaks with set pricing. The breaks function will be how MachShip will be told to price the consignments in that fashion. 

The number of Breaks which are against each type will be indicated next to the Break Type  in brackets - as exemplified below:

3. To edit a Break Price simply select the Edit Breaks Icon as shown below.

4. This will prompt the Edit Break Set modal to appear.

This modal will allow you to edit any of the breaks or the Item Type which the break is assigned to. 

5. Once completed, select Save Break Set. 

6. To finalize, select Save Lane Rate.  

A green Lane Rate was updated successfully prompt will show in the top right corner of the screen if successful.
